ICC Arbitrations – New Cost Scale effective as of 1 January 2017

With the beginning of the year 2017 some changes relating to the costs of ICC arbitrations have become effective.

The scale of administrative expenses set out in Appendix III of the ICC Rules of Arbitration has recently been revised.

The new scale of administrative expenses has become effective on 1 January 2017 and is applicable to all ICC arbitrations commenced on or after that date (Appendix III, Article 4(1)).

Further important changes relating to ICC arbitrations are lying ahead: The recently revised ICC Rules of Arbitration – aiming at enhancing efficiency and transparency as well as introducing a new set of expedited procedure rules (with a separate scale of costs) – will enter into force on 1 March 2017.
