LEBUHN & PUCHTA’s partners Dr. Matthias Wittschen and Dr. Jakob Hoffmann-Grambow attended the PitchBlue (www.pitchblue.hamburg), the first pitching event for maritime start-ups, which took place in Hamburg on 24 May 2018, organized by the German Shipowners’ Assocation (VDR). Ten finalists had been chosen out of 24 applicants from five countries and invited to take part in the pitch. After a brief presentation (three minutes), followed by a Q&A session (five minutes), the top-class jury, consisting of Nils Aden (E.R. Schiffahrt), Lucius Bunk (Auerbach Schifffahrt), Bastian Hagebeuker (Blue Star Group), Thorsten Meier (Reederei Roth), Nikolaus Oldendorff (Reederei Nord) and Gordon Poppe (Costa Group), awarded three winning start-ups: Closelink (online platform for marine lubricants), HASYTEC electronics (dynamic biofilm protection), and NautilusLog (digital logbook for shipping). The winners will be supported with free mentoring, counseling and advertisement.
According to the JUVE handbook 2014/2015, LEBUHN & PUCHTA is noted “for the excellent reputation of the firm for its work at the interface between shipping and company law as well as its experience with international matters” – a perfect match for maritime start-ups. “In our experience, reliable advice in both corporate and shipping law is exactly what young maritime start-ups are looking for. With our long-standing experience and our extensive network within the maritime industry, we are happy to successfully assist start-ups and young entrepreneurs in developing, implementing and running their new businesses.”, Dr. Matthias Wittschen and Dr. Jakob Hoffmann-Grambow conclude.
